Farewell post

Dear all!

Well, this is the last English lesson this year. Congratulations for all the efforts you've made to achieve this year's goals. Now you're able to understand lots of new things and communicate with English speakers. That's fantastic isn't it?

Now you can talk about many different topics like: countries and nationalities, shops and other places in town, school subjects and times, family and routines, holiday activities, the weather, food and drink, months and seasons, famous people, and films and books. I really hope you had some fun while you were learning all of this stuff.

It's been a real pleasure working with you this year. Hope your English skills are going to get better and better as you keep studying English in such a nice way.

Thanks for your patience and kindness!

Have a nice summer,

Albert Escriu

S.O.S. (Marc Marturià)

To anyone,

My name is Marc Marturià, and I'm alone in a desert island in the Caribean Sea.I don't know were my family is. We were travelling in a boat and there was a storm, the boat "Martu" was destroyed. I eat what I can (some insects, fruit, ...) The desert island is great, but I think that if you don't come here I'm going to die. I don't have so much food, and there isn't any water. Yesterday I went for a walk to look for food, but I only found a snake. I run a lot and I survived, I can't do anything in the island because it's dangerous, but I try to have fun. It's difficult to know that the death it's near. You are my only hope, please look for me!

Hey!

Here you have an excellent game to practise your listening.

Hope you have fun!

Imperative

We use the imperative form of the verbs to give instructions or commands.

For example:

"It's very hot in here! OPEN the windows please!"
"First WRITE your name on top of the page and then GIVE it to me"

If you want to play a bit with a mobile phone and the imperatives click on this link:

A description of a person (Júlia)

MY AUNT, ANNA.

The person I admire most is Anna. She is my aunt. She lives in Banyoles. I like her
because she is always happy and polite.
We do not always agree. It depends on what we think. When we meet we go to her
house and we usually go shopping too. It is fantastic and funny! I like spending time
with her.

I love it!

See you soon,

Júlia

Hello from Scotland (Cristian)

Hi Albert,
I'm on holiday here in Scotland with my mum, dad and brother. It's very cold here, so we always stay in a hot place.
At the moment I'm sitting in the sofa with my brother and we are watching a video. He really likes it, so we watch a film every day.
Tomorrow we're going to a famous lake, Lock Ness, so we're going to try to find the monster during all the day.

See you soon,

Much or many?

MUCH and MANY both mean the same: A LOT OF.

But we use them in a different way. We use MUCH with uncountable nouns and MANY with countable.

For example:
There is too much pasta for dinner! (Hi ha massa pasta per sopar!)
There are many apples on the table. (Hi ha moltes pomes sobre la taula)

If you want to practise a bit with MUCH and MANY, here you have some activities that will help you.

MUCH and MANY

Good luck!

On holiday (Laia Jordi)

ON HOLIDAY

Hello,

I'm on holiday here in Hawaii with my mother, my father and my sister. It's hot and sunny, so we often drink a tropical juice.

At the moment we are in a beach near the school, so we can sunbathe, my sister is sleeping! My father and my mother are sunbathing too. Just now there are some high weaves!

In the evening we are dancing Samba, my father doesn't know! Tomorrow we are surfing and swimming with dolphins, I think that it's very fun!

I hope you're having a good day!

See you soon.

Laia Jordi.

A description of a person (Pau Parés)

A DESCRIPTION OF A PERSON

Pol is my friend. He's twelve and he's tall. He lives in Porqueres.
Pol is a good friend. I like him because he's funny and friendly.

We sometimes disagree - he likes sausages, but I hate it.
Every summer I go to his house. He's got a swimming pool
and we swim in it.

In the secondary school we have lunch in the school's canteen.
He's a very good friend.

Christmas Holidays: composition 2

These holidays were fantastic!
The first days my sister and I put decorations around the Christmas tree and set up a crib. I woke up late every day in the morning and had very good meals for lunch.
Some days I went to the gym to train and some others I met friends and played together on the computer.
At Christmas' Eve I visited my grandparents and after dinner I sang Christmas carols and my grandfather gave me some money.
The next day it was Christmas and all of my family met in my home to celebrate it. All the children recited poems and then we got presents from the “tió”.
On the Boxing Day my family went to play bingo in the afternoon but we didn't win anything because we didn't have good luck. But I didn't mind, because the Three Wise Men brought me on the 6th of January a lot of toys and other games.

Christmas Holidays: composition I

Christmas days are very fun, because we haven't got classes.
The day before Christmas I, and my canoeing friends, went skiing. I had a great time, but I hurt my knee. On Christmas day I had a lot of presents: an electric guitar, a mobile phone, and a BMX bar and grips. Almost every day, I went to 8. 8 is a small mountain. In the 8 there are dirt jumps, and I and my friends jumped them whit BMX. We went in the skateboard park too. I had a great time during these holidays.
